San Miguel de Allende is located some 1,728 miles from the U.S. border at San Ysidro, California. The road through Mexico to Guanajuato is a scenic and exciting two-lane highway that traverses coastal, desert and mountainous terrains. Make sure you get gas, whenever you see a gas station as you may not see another open one for 100’s of miles. Avoid driving at night you may run into cows or other animals in the road. Driving to San Miguel de Allende from San Diego

From The San Diego area, take ramp and follow signs for SR-94 / Martin Luther King Fwy East. Keep left toward SR-125 North. Take ramp right and follow signs for I-8 East. Stay on I-8 East to the I-10 freeway, then follow the directions from Phoenix to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Driving from Arizona to San Miguel de Allende Guanajuato, Mexico

Take the I-10 east to Tucson, Arizona. From Tucson, you want to head south on Interstate 19 to Nogales, Arizona. Turn right onto I-19 Bus South / N Arroyo Blvd and the Road name changes to Mex-15D / Adolfo Lopez Mateos Stay on Mex 15D.

Entering Sinaloa
Take ramp right for Mex-15D you will come ba a toll booth. After the toll booth keep right to stay on Mex-15D into Narayit

Entering Nayarit
You will encounter another toll booth, then continue on the Mex-15D into Jalisco.

Entering Jalisco
Stop for toll booth, then bear right onto Mex-15 / Carretera Guadalajara-Nogales. Keep straight onto Avenida Vallarta for a few miles then bear right onto Calzada Lazaro Cardenas. Keep straight onto Mex-90D / Autopista A Zapotlanejo / Calzada Lazaro Cardenas. Take ramp right for Mex-15D toward Morelia / Zamora into Michoacan.

Entering Michoacan
Take ramp right for Mex-35 toward Zamora / La Piedad, then bear right onto Carretera La Piedad-Zamora. Make a U-turn to stay on Carretera La Piedad-Zamora, then almost instantly you will bear right onto Mex-35. Stay on Mex- 35 for a short while then turn left onto Ramon Corona. Turn right onto Aldama, then bear left onto Adolfo Lopez Mateos. Turn right onto Avenida Pedro Chavolla Eje into Guanajuato.

Entering Guanajuato
Bear right onto Avenida Padre Hidalgo, after about a mile the road name changes to Carretera Irapuato-la Piedad for about 20 miles, then the road name changes to Mex-90 / Carretera Irapuato-la Piedad. Keep straight onto Mex-90 / Carretera Irapuato-la Piedad. Eventually you will bear right onto Avenida Insurgentes and take ramp right for Mex-45D toward Queretaro / Mexico DF. Take ramp right and follow signs for Avenida Tecnologico. At roundabout, take 4th exit for just over a mile then at roundabout, take 1st exit onto Carretera Comonfort-Celaya. Bear right onto Vicente Guerrero. The Road name changes to Ignacio Comonfort. After a mile the road name changes to Mex-51 / Carretera San Miguel de Allende-Comonfort. At roundabout, take 2nd exit onto Ancha de San Antonio for about a mile. Stay right onto Calle del Codo , then turn left onto Dr Ignacio Hernandez Macias, and then immediately turn right onto Cuadrante. Arrive at San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
